Galway's Joe Lyons triumphed in the West of Ireland amateur championship final at Rosses Point this evening, overcoming Paul Cutler in a dramatic finish to take the title.

The 34-year-old sank his birdie putt on the 18th to secure a one hole win over the Ulsterman having earlier disposed of Simon Ward 2&1 in this mornings semi-finals.

Cutler had made the decider by accounting for local favourite Tommy McGowan on the second extra hole.
