EUROPEAN TOUR:Matching something Tiger Woods and Colin Montgomerie have done on a golf course would normally delight England's David Lynn - but not what he did in Munich yesterday.
At seven under par after 14 holes Lynn led the BMW International Open. But then, putting from off the green for eagle on the next, he sent it off the other side into a water hazard and finished with a double-bogey seven.
Lynn finished the day one behind Australian Peter O'Malley, South African Anton Haig, Singapore's Mardan Mamat and Argentinian Rafa Echenique, who all shot matching six-under-par 66s.
Montgomerie putted into a lake during the Cannes Open over a decade ago and Woods even more famously did it during the 1997 Ryder Cup at Valderrama.
Miguel Angel Jiménez had a hat-trick of late birdies for a 69, one better than 50-year-old Bernhard Langer, who took some of the shine off his day's work with a closing three-putt bogey six.

Cixous took three years out of the game to concentrate on his passion for triathlons, but recently returned to the fairways after rediscovering his love for golf.

EURO PRO TOUR: Simon Thornton became the fourth Irishman to win on the Ivobank PGA EuroPro Tour with a four stroke victory at the Bovey Castle Championship in Devon yesterday.
However, It looked like Grey Bowden would claim the title as he held the lead playing the 12th hole. But a wayward drive eventually cost the Hermitage man a 10 as he slipped to a share of fourth place.
Nerves could have got the better of Thornton after he double bogeyed the 15th to drop to four under but he composed himself with a birdie-birdie finish to record a final round 66 and claim the €13,000 first prize with a score of six-under-par 204.
Noel Fox and Martin Le Mesurier tied for second place on two-under-par 208.
