Limerick recorded a shock six-point win over Cork in the semi-finals of the Munster minor football championship at the Gaelic Grounds last evening.

Led by Ireland under-19 rugby captain Jeremy Staunton, they completely dominated their opponents, led 0-6 to 0-3 at the interval and thanks to Eddie Scully, Colm Hickey and Staunton, continued in the driving seat right to the finish. It was their first win over Cork in 42 years.

Scorers: Limerick - E Scully 0-5; J Staunton 0-3; C Hickey 0-2; J Lydon and M Keane 0-1 each. Cork - P Hurley 0-3; D O'Brien, P Whelan, J Flavin 0-1 each.
