Kilkenny 3-16 NUI Galway 2-12:A YOUNG Kilkenny side gave NUI Galway a lesson as they booked their place in the semi-finals yesterday.
The winners fielded a team made up of minors from recent campaigns.
Kilkenny took the lead thanks to points from Rory Hickey (2) and Canice Maher, before a goal from Pádraig Walsh, younger brother of All-Star Tommy, left the winners to 1-6 to 0-2 clear after 20 minutes.
Things went from bad to worse for NUI Galway, who leaked another goal to a Hickey penalty.
The game was all but over within minutes of the restart, as the goal-hungry Walsh snapped up his second big strike of the day.
