Kiltegan maintained their record of never falling at the first fence in the Leinster Club Hurling Championship when they overcame Westmeath champions Clonkill at Aughrim yesterday.
But Clonkill pushed this game right down to the wire with a rally in the closing 10 minutes just when it looked as if the Wicklow men were going to romp to an easy victory with the aid of the wind.
In the tense closing minutes, Kiltegan backs were to the wall and it was late points by Michael Moran and free-taker John Keogh which saw Kiltegan home.
