Kilkenny City have re-submitted their appeal against expulsion from the FAI Cup after the club's initial submission on the matter was ruled to be out of order by the association yesterday.
City had sent a club cheque to cover the appeal fee when the rule governing such situations specifies that a banker's draft should accompany the letter of appeal.
Club secretary Jim Rhattigan said yesterday that he was disappointed that the club's first attempt to have its expulsion overturned had been dismissed on a technicality, but insisted that the fight for reinstatement into the competition would go on.
"The rule is that we had four postal days to send off our appeal and because of the bank holiday, as far as we're concerned, that means today is the final day. As soon as I got the news I headed across to the bank and I've just sent the draft off now, so we'll be hoping for good news later in the week."
