The latest attempt to get this match played is in doubt due to the condition of the pitch - an ongoing problem since the recent under-21 match against Estonia - but after an inspection yesterday the current assumption is that the match will finally go ahead.

If it does then Kilkenny manager Joe McGrath hopes to give debuts to his three latest signings, Simon McAreavy, Carlos Rocha and Gavin Wilkinson. Rocha's international clearance was still in doubt last night but if he is cleared to play in time then all three are expected to start for the home side, who will be without Fran Carter due to legal exams.

Bohemians, meanwhile, should have an unchanged panel from the one which travelled to Cork on Saturday. However, having started the game at Turner's Cross with three strikers and then replaced Gary O'Neill with Darren O'Keeffe in an attempt to strengthen the midfield, Bohemians manager Roddy Collins may well stick with the less adventurous formation.

Last two seasons: 1999/00: Did not meet; 00/01: Have not met.

Recent league form: City: L L L L L; Bohemians: W L W W D.

Leading scorers: Kilkenny City: Murray, Kabia, Mulcahy, Carter and Byrne (one apiece). Bohemians: Crowe 13.

Referee: J O'Neill (Waterford).
