LEAGUE OF IRELAND PREMIER DIVISION: Cobh Ramblers 0 Bohemians 2: COBH RAMBLERS are certain to spend 2009 in the First Division after Saturday evening's defeat at home to champions Bohemians effectively ended their fight against the drop.

Late strikes by Bohemians substitute Mindaugas Kalonas were the only highlights of a drab game and the result ensures the survival contest at the foot of the Premier Division is down to a two-horse race, with Galway United holding the advantage over Finn Harps.

Cobh manager Stephen Henderson admitted afterwards that it wasn't meant to be.

"The players have done the club proud," he said. "We've competed with every team. I know we went through a six-week period when we were poor and confidence took a knock. But credit to the boys, they went on this run of wins and draws and clean sheets and put us straight back in the mix.
