CONNACHT SF FINAL St Jarlath's 1-7 St Colman's 0-7:ST JARLATH'S proud tradition in college football continued at Ballinrobe yesterday when they saw off a dogged St Cullman's side in the provincial final.
The Galway side had the aid of the breeze in the opening half, but failed to convert possession into scores. Only for a opportunist goal from corner forward Danny Cummins right on the half-hour mark, the sides would've gone in at the break on level terms. Instead, it left Colman's 1-3 to 0-3 to the good.
The technically more astute Jarlath's outfit, with three All-Ireland winning minors in their ranks, had no problems playing into an ever increasing wind and scores from Stephen Boyle, David Shallow, Brian Moran and Cummins saw them increase their lead.
The Claremorris side could only muster four points in the second half and the clock ticked towards its inevitable conclusion.
