Middlemarch can bounce back from an unlucky Galway experience and secure another flat race success at Gowran Park this evening.

The ex-German-trained horse was considered by trainer Pat Fahy to be a banker bet in the Galway Hurdle, but Middlemarch's fate was decided soon after the start when Davy Russell's leather snapped.

Russell endured an uncomfortable ride around, but if that experience hasn't taken too much out of Middlemarch he looks to have a good opportunity lined up in tonight's nine furlong handicap.

Declan McDonogh will take the mount, and although Fahy's horse has a stone more in the ratings compared to when winning at Naas last month, he does love the ground conditions and looks a better prospect than the narrow Ballybrit winner, Flying Knight.

Michael Kinane and John Oxx could enjoy a profitable evening with Eyshal, a son of the Irish Oaks winner Ebadiyla, looking good in the seven furlong maiden, and So Well Red returning in the mile maiden after being out of action since May.

In Sligo, another unlucky Galway runner will be in action. At Ballybrit, Whataboutya over jumped at the first obstacle of his hurdle race and the exit led to a spell on the sidelines for Paul Carberry.

The partnership is reunited in the first, and they look a better bet to score than Lace Your Boots.

Coin Man was running on at the end of a decent race at Galway behind Arc Lemanique and a repeat of that will make him hard to beat in the novice hurdle.
