Motor Sport: Patrick Hogan (Dalkey) and Niall Quinn (Dunboyne) are chasing British championship honours at Silverstone on Sunday. Hogan is nine points behind Sweden's Sebastian Hohenthal in the race for the British Formula Renault Championship. Out of 18 races he has scored 12 podium finishes and five wins.

"I have been quicker than Sebastian in recent testing at Silverstone and I am now satisfied I can do the business. I'm fully aware how important this great championship is to my career as a racing driver. I want that title, very badly, " said Hogan.

Niall Quinn is aiming to finish his first motor racing season on a high as he goes for the Rookie Cup in the final two rounds of the Formula-BMW Series. He has had five class wins after graduating from kart racing and although he is 27 points behind Henry Arundel in second place, he has a racer's chance of winning the Rookie Cup.

Three Irish drivers have already won British Championships this year. Damien Faulkner has won the UK Porsche Carrera Challenge for the second successive season, Niall Breen is the dominant winner in Formula-BMW, and Christopher Evans has beaten Dermot Carnegie to make it an Irish one-two in the Rallycross Championship.
