WOMEN'S HOCKEY: After their opening round wins in the Leinster Cup on Saturday, Clontarf and Hermes' first and second teams entered the draw for the second round, one that gave holders Loreto an away tie against Genesis II and produced just one all-first division pairing, between Pembroke Wanderers and Old Alexandra.
Two goals from Shirine Young and another from Sarah Moores gave Hermes a 3-0 win over Glenanne, while their seconds edged past Aer Lingus, with Maureen Flavin getting the only goal.
The prolific Grainne Leahy brought her season's tally to seven goals when she scored twice for Clontarf in their 5-0 victory over Our Lady's.
Pegasus, meanwhile, continue to defy those who suspected they would struggle to maintain their lofty standards having lost nine players through international commitments or retirements - they are also without Kerry Hiles this season, who has moved to Dublin and joined Old Alexandra. The Belfast club remain in their accustomed position, though - top of the table - after Heather Mullan's goal gave them a 1-0 win over Ards on Saturday. Ballymoney stay second after beating UUJ 11-0.
