Croke Park is to be asked to consider a motion from the Omagh's St Enda's club, which wants to see GAA grounds being made available to other sports, if the proceeds are going to charity. A lengthy debate at yesterday's Tyrone county convention failed to either adopt or reject the motion.
Instead it was agreed that Central Council delegate Jimmy Treacy should ask the GAA management committee to look at the issue. The move by St Enda's follows the well-publicised controversy in the wake of the bomb which ripped through the town last summer, killing 29 people.
The club wanted to use Healy Park, the county ground, for a charity soccer match to raise funds for the victims and their families, but the plan was vetoed by the GAA.
