Nice try Tobermore United. Before Saturday's Irish Cup fifth round tie the Junior club decided they could do with a bit of help against league leaders Glentoran, so they contacted Eric Cantona's agent in Paris and asked him if Dieu would be interested in hanging up his acting boots and making a return to football. "Time was against the deal, however, given that he had to be signed 14 days before the weekend fixture," explained the Belfast Telegraph last week (which seemed to imply that Cantona would have lined out for Tobermore if they'd contacted him in time). Well, stranger things have happened . . . like 15 years ago when a fella by the name of George Best played for the club against Ballymena United in an Irish Cup match. Mmm, that name's familiar.
Grin of the week
Nice try Tobermore United
