The Women’s Irish Open will make a welcome return to the Ladies European Tour after a decade-long absence in 2022.
The tournament will take place from September 22nd to 25th with a venue to be confirmed in the new year.
It means that there will be two LET events on the island next year, with the €1.3 million ISPS Handa World Invitational pencilled in for August 11th to 14th at Galgorm Castle and Massereene golf clubs in Co Antrim.
The Women's Irish Open was last staged in 2012 when this year's victorious Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew took the prize at Killeen Castle in Co Meath.
Reacting to the news, Golf Ireland chief executive Mark Kennelly said he was delighted to see the event returning to the LET schedule.
“Today’s news is an early Christmas present for golf fans in Ireland. We have been working behind the scenes with the Ladies European Tour and Sport Ireland since early this year hoping for today’s news to become reality.
“I would like to thank both organisations for the work done behind the scenes that has led us to today’s announcement and we look forward to further details early next year.”
