Russell Henley followed his opening 62 with a 64 to take a four stroke lead into the weekend at the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina.

The American dropped a shot on the 12th, his third hole of the day, but was otherwise in fine form and picked up seven birdies to double his overnight lead.

“This course, so much can happen,” Henley said after his second round. “You know, I feel good about my game, but  . . . there’s so much golf to be played and I’m just excited to try to keep playing well.”

A poor back nine left Ireland’s Seamus Power on three-under-par for the tournament, 11 shots off Henley.

Justin Rose is tied for third on nine under and going birdie-bogey-eagle between the 13th and 15th, while American Tyler Duncan is also third after shooting a 62 on Friday.

Scot Russell Knox pulled himself above the cut line with a 63, including an eagle on the 13th, while Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntyre and Ben Taylor will also play into the weekend.

Among those cut were Martin Laird, Hideki Matsuyama and Padraig Harrington.

The latter carded a six-over 76 to miss the cut on two-over-par.
