Kevin Tway will be hoping to follow in his father’s footsteps as he takes a one-shot lead into day three of the RBC Canadian Open.

The American, whose father Bob won the same tournament at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in 2003, recovered from a bogey on the 17th to finish with a birdie on the final hole and get to 13 under in Oakville, Ontario.

South Korean Whee Kim matched Tway’s second-round 65 to finish on 12 under overall and was joined in second place by American Keegan Bradley.

Bradley eagled the par-five second hole and closed on nine-under 63 following an impressive birdie-eagle-birdie-eagle finish through holes 15 to 18.

Meanwhile Shane Lowry is six shots off the lead after he followed his opening 70 with a second round 67. He sits two strokes ahead of Graeme McDowell, who shot a 72 on Friday. Seamus Power’s week is over, however - he missed the cut after a 74.

England’s Tommy Fleetwood had a disappointing day, mixing six birdies with five bogeys for a round of 71 and dropping 19 places into joint 23rd.

Day one leader Robert Garrigus moved into joint 10th on nine under following a round of 72 which included four bogeys and birdies apiece.
