A BLISTERING swim from Michael Giles gave Coolmine their second consecutive gold in the 100 metres freestyle as the National Championships drew to a close on Saturday.

Giles, second slowest in the qualifying heats, was drawn in lane five, but he turned it to his advantage when he came home in a time of 51.7 seconds.

Meanwhile, Leonore Kelleher added another gold to her tally when she stormed home in the final of the 50 metres butterfly in a time of 29.31 seconds.

The thirteen-year-old from Cork also finished a very credible second to Trojan's Chantel Gibney in the 100 metres freestyle, while Gina Galligan claimed gold in the 50 metres breaststroke.
