All-Ireland Cup: St Mary's College have been drawn away to Garryowen in semi-final of the AIB Cup, to be played on Saturday, February 25th, after they overcame neighbours Terenure College 35-21 at Lakelands Park yesterday.
Two tries each for John Kilbride and James Norton, all converted by Connacht's Mark McHugh, ensured St Mary's reclaimed the Dr Michael Smith Memorial trophy.
The other semi-final sees Buccaneers at home to Cork Constitution.
On Saturday, Garryowen sought retribution for a recent league defeat to Clontarf by winning 15-14 at Castle Avenue. Two tries from centre Ciaran O'Boyle were cancelled out by touchdowns from Clontarf winger Niall O'Brien and hooker Niall Carson, but a Conor Kilroy penalty decided the contest.
Buccaneers convincingly beat Galwegians 23-6 after tries from Connacht players Darren Yapp and Paul Warwick.
Fullback Tom Cregan added 13 points as the Athlone club held on despite losing both locks, Brian Buckley and David Gannon, to the sin bin.
Finally, Cork Constitution continued their excellent season with a 41-13 demolition of Belfast Harlequins. Former Irish under-21 winger Richard Lane crossed for four of his sides five tries, while Anthony Horgan claimed the other against a depleted Harlequins line-up. In particular, current under-21 internationals Darren Cave and Stuart Philpott were unavailable.
Meanwhile, the draw for the AIB Junior Cup also took place, with Rainey Old Boys paired with Seapoint and Youghal at home to City of Armagh.
