Roscommon versus Dublin moved to Carrick on Shannon

The Roscommon county board have confirmed that Sunday's game between the Connacht county and All-Ireland champions Dublin has been moved from Hyde Park to Carrick on Shannon in Leitrim - just hours before throw-in.

Last weekend Roscommon suffered a four point defeat to Mayo in their first home league game of the 2016 campaign to be played in the Roscommon town venue - with both teams highly critical of the playing conditions in the aftermath.

The team's previous home game had been played in Longford's Pearse Park, while their first round enocunter with Monaghan had been played in Kiltoom (St Brigid's GAA grounds) although due to capacity requirements the venue has since been unavailable.

On Sunday morning the Roscommon county board released the following statement: "There was a pitch inspection carried out on Dr Douglas Hyde Park Roscommon today at 9am. The referee felt that the pitch was unplayable and as a result Roscommon GAA has moved the match to Pairc Sean in Carrick on Shannon throw in at 2pm.

“We apologise for the short notice however Roscommon GAA have been working very hard to ensure that Hyde Park was ready for the arrival of the League and All Ireland Champions. We will have more details presently.”
