Brian Lohan's University of Limerick eliminated Waterford from the Waterford Crystal Cup for the second successive year at Carriganore.

Two Maurice Shanahan points helped Waterford into a 0-5 to 0-4 interval lead in a game played in awful conditions.

UL struck three minutes after the break when Jonathan Glynn flicked Brian Stapleton's long ball beyond Stephen O'Keeffe to put the students ahead.A brace of excellent points from Stapleton ensured Limerick held the initiative.
