Galway fretting on lengthening injury list ahead of semi-final with Sligo

A mounting injury list and need to internally discipline two players leaves Alan Mulholland's Galway footballers below full strength for Saturday's Connacht football semi-final against Sligo at Markievicz Park.

Johnny Duane and Eoin Concannon from the St James's club were already suspended for two matches during the league and following another incident the pair have been removed from the panel.

Team captain Paul Conroy had a moon boot removed from his foot only last Thursday after sustaining a metatarsal fracture. He is not expected to be risked unless Sligo threaten to repeat their 2012 victory at Pearse stadium.

Conroy replaced Finian Hanley, who has a shoulder problem, as captain this season.

Duane's expected replacement in the team, Joss Moore, has a knee problem and fellow corner back Keith Kelly (ankle) is also injured so Aonghus Tierney is in line to wear the number four jersey.

Sean Armstrong, Galway's most experienced forward, is struggling with a groin injury while James Kavanagh is highly unlikely to feature due to a torn hamstring.

Galway were barely tested in the 3-17 to 0-7 victory over London on May 25th.
