Leitrim 1-18 London 0-9 Leitrim gained their first victory of the current Allianz Football League campaign when they comprehensively defeated London in a lacklustre encounter at Páirc Seán MhicDiarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon yesterday.
In a poor low scoring first half, London aided by a strong breeze more than matched the home side in all sectors with Lorcan Mulvey, and Alan O'Hara leading the London attack. The visitors led 0-5 to 0-3 after 25 minutes but two pointed frees by man-of-the-match Kevin Conlon left the sides level at 0-5 at half-time.
A more purposeful Leitrim emerged for the second half and although Mark Gottsche put London briefly ahead immediately on the resumption, the home side replied with five unanswered points to go four points ahead by the half way stage.
An excellent goal by substitute Thomas Mulvey in the 53rd minute confirmed the Leitrim dominance and they went on to register a further seven points to London's two running out comfortable winners.
