Brennan unavailable for Dublin’s semifinal

Following recent ankle surgery, Ger Brennan will not be available for Dublin's Leinster semi-final against Wexford on Sunday week.

However, the veteran centre back is aiming to make his seasonal debut in the Leinster final on July 20th or the qualifiers that same weekend.

Brennan also underwent elective surgery on a stomach issue in December but played through the ankle problem during St Vincent’s run to the All-Ireland title in March.

Despite taking part in collective gym sessions, he hasn’t kicked a football for six weeks and didn’t feature in the national league.

"The ankle injury is coming off the back of the St Vincent's campaign," said Dublin manager Jim Gavin at this morning's media briefing. "He managed that well but maybe came back a bit too soon."

Bernard Brogan appears to have recovered from a grade one hamstring tear, sustained in the 2-12 to 0-16 win over Laois on June 8th, while long serving midfielder Denis Bastick has also returned to full training.

Gavin reported no fresh injury concerns.
