All Star ’keeper Paul Durcan completes Ballyboden transfer

Donegal's All Star goalkeeper Paul Durcan has completed his transfer to Dublin club Ballyboden St Enda's.

The much-touted move was completed on Friday, with Durcan and his wife now living full-time in the capital where he works with 3D Personnel, a construction recruitment company.

The dual South Dublin club were senior county champions for the second time in 2009, winning the hurling championship in the same year as they have done on three occasions since.

The 30-year-old won the Donegal championship with his local Four Masters club in 2003, alongside current intercounty team mate Karl Lacey and former Donegal team mates Barry Dunnion and Barry Monaghan, but it's believed that he was no longer committed to making the three hour each way commute to training and matches.

An All Star in both 2012 and again last summer he will now team up with the Dublin club’s fullback Robbie McDaid, a Dublin Under-21 and former Blue Star selection, who is a cousin of his.

In his eleventh season with the Donegal senior panel Durcan’s move will not interfere with his intercounty commitments.

The transfer was not expected to be completed until next month but with the expiry date for an appeal already passed he will line out for the club in the 2015 Dublin senior football championship.

Durcan sustained minor injuries in a car crash last month and sat out last weekend's league tie with Mayo. He has again been named among the replacements for Sunday's league semi-final against Cork with Michael Boyle starting between the sticks.
