GAA provincial championship draws to be made on Saturday

Draws to be made on Saturday Sport with hurling championship fixtures also confirmed

The draws for the 2022 GAA provincial football championships will be made this weekend live on RTÉ’s Saturday Sport, presented by Des Cahill and Joanne Cantwell, after 3.0.

With the commencement of training for the new season permitted from next Wednesday week, December 8th, the GAA were keen to leave the draws until that return was imminent in case the pairing of any neighbouring rivalries might have prompted an early, unauthorised return for some counties.

Leinster GAA will, like last year, draw only as far as the quarter-finals and leave the semi-final pairings until the championship reaches that stage. The other provinces will complete their whole schedule.

Next year’s hurling championships are scheduled to revert to the round-robin format that proved so successful in 2018 and 2019. The hurling fixtures as well as their dates will be confirmed on Saturday.
