Eamonn O’Shea drops four of Tipperary’s six forwards

Kerry bring in Pa Kilkenny and Paul Geaney for visit to Kildare

Tipperary hurling manager Eamon O’Shea has reacted to last weekend’s comprehensive defeat by All-Ireland champions Clare by making six changes for Sunday’s match against Galway in Salthill. A number of the recalls are for established players recovered from injury.

The selection suggests that he is more exercised by the 15 wides shot in Thurles rather than the 9-35 conceded in the two most recent matches.

Patrick Maher makes his first start of the campaign whereas Pádraic Maher and Séamus Callanan, who were both named in last week’s original line-up but withdrew with a head injury and quad strain, respectively, are back in the team as is former All Star Conor O’Mahony who came on against Clare.

Late call-up last week John O'Dwyer and Noel McGrath are the only forwards to survive with Kieran Bergin - maybe unfortunately as he was playing out of position - Jason Forde, Shane Bourke and Paddy Murphy are dropped with last week's replacements Conor Kenny and Michael Heffernan also coming in.

Two changes
Meanwhile Eamonn Fitzmaurice has made two changes to the Kerry football team to travel to Newbridge this weekend to face Kildare in match likely to have a major bearing on relegation from Division One.

Pa Kilkenny is chosen at corner back ahead of Tadhg Enright whereas up front Paul Geaney gets the nod at full forward with Barry John Keane dropping to the bench. Both came on last week during the county’s first win of the current campaign. Jonathan Lyne returns to the panel after injury.

Brian McIver makes two changes for the visit of holders and All-Ireland champions Dublin to Celtic Park. Derry have impressed on their return to Division One and lost to Cork by just a point last week. Gerard O’Kane returns at centre back with Aidan McAlynn reverting to the bench and James Kielt is also dropped in favour of Benny Herron.

Meanwhile Jimmy Barry-Murphy makes six changes to the Cork hurling team that defeated Offaly for the trip to Ballycastle to take on Antrim in Division One B. Brian Lawton of Castlemartyr makes his debut at wing forward in place of Aidan Walsh who will be in Castlebar with the county footballers, as will Eoin Cadogan who is replaced by Stephen White.

Darren McCarthy rotates with Anthony Nash in goal and Christopher Joyce, captain Patrick Cronin and Brian Hartnett also come in for Shane O'Neill, doing exams, Rob O'Shea and Stephen Moylan.

Heavily beaten
Mayo won't announce their team until this evening, as manager James Horan decides whether to include any of the under-21s, who were surprisingly heavily beaten by Roscommon this week.

Finally Peter McGrath's Fermanagh team for the Division Three match with Limerick has no place for the Quigley brothers, following a reported row at training this week. Séamus and Seán are the team's top scorers whereas Conor is the vice-captain.
