Christy Toye to start for Donegal despite facial injury

Cork’s Colm O’Neill poised to return after third cruciate injury

Donegal will look to extend their winning start in Division Two of the Allianz Football League with the same team that defeated Laois last Sunday – as forward Christy Toye is passed fit for this Sunday’s trip to Galway despite sustaining a serious face injury.

Toye – who hadn't started a league match for Donegal since March 2012 – was a late addition to their starting line-up last Sunday, replacing the injured Darach O'Connor.

Stitches on face
He delivered a man-of-the-match performance, and although he later needed stitching on his face, manager Jim McGuinness is confident he will be okay for Sunday.

Their 2-19 to 1-9 over Laois also featured Rory Kavanagh, Karl Lacey and Frank McGlynn, who will thus continue their return to match fitness following injury.

Neil Gallagher is also set to return, being listed among the substitutes.

Cork forward Colm O'Neill is also poised to make his return from a third cruciate injury, having been named on the bench for their Division One clash with Kildare at Páirc Uí Rinn.

First league starts
Manager Brian Cuthbert has also given first league starts to Conor Dorman and Brian O'Driscoll, as both Aidan Walsh and Eoin Cadogan have now turned their attention to hurling.

Although they intend playing both codes for Cork this season they are preparing for the opening game of the hurling league on Sunday week, against Limerick.
