Armagh still on course for place in McKenna Cup last four

Gavin McParland scores 2-4 in victory over St Mary’s

Armagh 2-11, St Mary's 0-14: Armagh are still on course for a place in the semi-finals of the Dr McKenna Cup following this hard-earned win over St Mary's last night that was highlighted by 2-4 from ace marksman Gavin McParland.

St Mary's looked lively in the first quarter and sprinted into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead with Ryan Johnston (2), Jack Grugan and Thomas Canavan on target.

But Armagh found their feet and enjoyed parity of esteem when Gavin McParland complemented his four points up until then with a well-taken goal from a penalty.

St Mary’s, though, still led by 0-11 to 1-5 at the break, but Armagh’s power and physique surfaced in the second half, and McParland’s second goal cemented their dominance.
