LEINSTER VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS SF FINAL: Kildare 2-11 Dublin 2-8: WAYNE FITZPATRICK scored 2-7 – despite playing with a broken finger on his right hand – as the Kildare Vocational Schools side lifted a Leinster title on their home patch on Saturday.

That eventual outcome didn’t look likely as Dublin, who had beaten Kildare earlier in the competition before the Lilywhites came through the back-door qualifiers, raced into a 1-4 to 0-1 lead by the 21st minute. Shane Hickey scoring their goal after good work by Adam Rodgers.

Dublin failed to score again until the 50th minute though as Fitzpatrick took charge. He scored Kildare’s first goal in the 23rd minute and followed that with three points to tie up the scoreboard by half-time.

Neil Flynn and Ryan Casey scored points for Kildare early in the second half and Fitzpatrick scored his second goal.
