Kildare SHC Final/ Ardclough 3-9 Confey 0-14: Ardclough led all the way in Newbridge yesterday against a Confey side appearing in its first county final.

Paul Fitzgerald opened the scoring with less than a minute gone and two goals from corner forward Andrew Whelan, who netted twice in the space of 60 seconds, and another one from Brendan Byrne left Ardclough, last winners in 2004, 10 points clear very early on.

Confey rallied and by half time Ardclough's lead was down to five points, 3-5 to 0-9. But the damage had already been done.
