World number three David Duval withdrew from the tournament yesterday with back trouble

World number three David Duval withdrew from the tournament yesterday with back trouble. Duval, who pulled out after six holes of the International tournament in Colorado two weeks ago, has failed to recover in time and is replaced by 47-year-old ex-Masters winner Craig Stadler.

His withdrawal follows that of two former US PGA champions because of hip problems - 1995 winner Steve Elkington and 64-year-old Bobby Nichols, winner of the title in 1964.
