Donegal 1-12; Cork 0-9: Three under-21s who had played a championship game for Donegal on Saturday tore the heart out of Cork at Ballyshannon yesterday, hitting a goal and two points before half-time to send Donegal on their way.
A Kevin Rafferty goal on 30 minutes and quick points from Kevin Cassidy and Christy Toye put Donegal in front, Cork having briefly led with a point from Fionan Murray. Ahead 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time, Donegal withstood an early Cork barrage, but five Cork wides inside 10 minutes of the restart didn't help their cause. Donegal's Colm McFadden and Devenney were on target in response to a Brendan Jer O'Sullivan score on 45 minutes.
Cork's best chance to get back in contention came on 50 minutes, Murray opting to take a free quickly but his shot rebounded off the Donegal post.
Donegal added late points from Michael Hegarty and Adrian Sweeney and a draw against Roscommon next week will be good enough to put them through to the latter stages.
