Roy Keane is the latest big name to pull out of Manchester United's pre-season tour to Australia and China. Keane has aggravated the ankle injury he suffered in a clash with Gary Speed during the FA Cup final, and was advised by a specialist not to fly with the rest of the team yesterday.
Leeds were last night hoping to complete the signing of Michael Duberry from Chelsea for £4.5 million.
The defender was in Leeds for a medical yesterday. "As soon as he passes the medical, we will sign him, so hopefully that will be tonight," Leeds chairman, Peter Ridsdale said.
While Duberry was set to join the west Yorkshire club, striker Clyde Wijnhard has met with Huddersfield officials to thrash out a possible £1 million move. Now Leeds are waiting to hear the outcome of those discussions.
