Dempsey is making a good recovery

Both Leinster backs Luke Fitzgerald and Girvan Dempsey trained yesterday, with Dempsey now a possible selection prospect when the squad is announced today for the Heineken European Cup game against Edinburgh at Donnybrook on Saturday.

The Leinster and Ireland fullback injured his ankle before Christmas but is reported to be making a good recovery.

Coach Michael Cheika will decide whether to test Dempsey or stick with Rob Kearney, who scored two tries last weekend against the Ospreys in the Magners Celtic League.

Morgan Stoddart can expect a baptism of fire when he makes his full debut for Llanelli in their crucial European Cup showdown at Ulster on Saturday. The 22-year-old, who came on for a few minutes of the Scarlets' defeat at Edinburgh on Friday, has been named at fullback for the trip to Belfast, where a win will guarantee his side a home quarter-final. Stoddart gets the call ahead of internationals Barry Davies and Garan Evans.

Key playmakers wing Mark Jones and centre Regan King are back in, Wales scrumhalf Dwayne Peel returns to partner Stephen Jones, while flanker Simon Easterby captains the side.
