Beaverstown's Gary Cullen will be out for a repeat performance when he heads a top-class field in the Midland Scratch Cup at Carlow in two weeks. After a disappointing 2000 following last year's success, the former international has taken time out of the game since the interprovincials in early August. The highlights - and there were many - included victory in the Irish Amateur Strokeplay championship, a semi-finalist in the West of Ireland, a member of the Irish team in both the home internationals and the European championships.
