The rescheduling of Saturday’s €75,000 Dan Moore Handicap Chase could work out to Coole River’s advantage after he was the sole British hope left in the Fairyhouse highlight after yesterday’s declaration stage.
originally due to be run nine days ago, but cancelled due to waterlogging, the Dan Moore has attracted 13 entries at the forfeit stage, including the Grade One hurdler Alderwood and the Willie Mullins-trained Lambro.
Both would have their first handicap start over fences if showing up on Saturday but it will be a return home for the ex-Jessica Harrington-trained Coole River, who is now with Emma Lavelle in Hampshire.
Coole River returned to action after almost three years absence with a pair of chase starts last month and Lavelle is seriously considering a trip across the Irish Sea. “I think there’s a chance he will go over,” said Lavelle yesterday. “He is also in at Wincanton on Thursday, although there must be a doubt about whether the meeting is on. I need to have a good look at the entries but I thought two miles and one at Fairyhouse would suit.”
Champion trainer Willie Mullins has also left Quiscover Fontaine in the race.
