Clare without injured Baker and Gilligan

GAELICGAMES: Clare have been forced to make a number of changes for their National Hurling League game against Waterford in Cusack Park on Sunday. Out through injury go Ollie Baker and Niall Gilligan, and into their places in attack come John Reddan and Alan Markham.

There are also changes in defence where Ken Kennedy and Colm Forde are introduced. Andy Quinn is another change in the attack in place of David Forde.

Andy Maloney returns to the Waterford full forward line as his adopted team seek to extend their league season with a win over Clare. Only the winners are assured of a place in the quarter-finals.

The former Tipperary player comes in at the expense of Dan Shanahan. Maloney missed that game because of an injury he picked up against Meath a week earlier.

Manager Justin McCarthy has also elected to substantially reshape his forward unit, with Séamus Prendergast moving to left corner forward and Paul Flynn operating from the right wing. The panel has been strengthened by the return from America of Brian Greene, who is named on the bench for Sunday.

Limerick resumed training for the first time since the Eamonn Cregan controversy yesterday and after a short session the selectors make a substantial number of changes for their game against Derry in Lavey. Albert Shanahan takes over in goal from the injured Joe Quaid, while in defence Stephen McDonagh replaces Damien Reale and Clem Smith comes in for Peter Lawlor.

Also, Paul Carey will now partner his older brother Ciarán at midfield - with Stephen Lucey moving to full back - while James Moran comes back into the attack in place of Paul O'Grady.

Kilkenny make just two switches for their game against Dublin in Nowlan Park. Richie Mullally comes into the defence in an indirect swap with Paul Cahill and Brian Dowling moves into the attack, with Pat Tennyson dropping back to midfield in place of Aidan Cummins.

Dublin are unchanged, with manager Kevin Fennelly going with the players who had a mixed display against Galway last Saturday. Ballyboden's Simon Daly, centre back on the minor team last year, has been named among the Dublin substitutes and three more players will be added later in the week. Dublin will bring a second-string team to play Kilkenny's under-21s in a challenge game.

Wexford make three changes for their game against Offaly in Birr, retaining the three substitutes introduced in the loss to Limerick in their last outing.

Eddie Doyle comes into the half back line for Liam Dunne, who has a rib injury, while centre forward Darren Caulfield is dropped. Adrian Fenlon gets Caulfield's place, with Trevor Kelly taking over at midfield. As expected, Larry Murphy was forced out with a hamstring injury and Michael Jordan takes over at left wing forward, with Rory McCarthy introduced at corner forward.

The top three teams in Divisions 1A and 1B go into the play-offs.
