Galway 1-20 IT Sligo 0-7:GALWAY PRODUCED a display yesterday which will give new manager Tomás Ó Flatharta plenty of hope heading into the national league.
Matthew Clancy notched 1-5 as Galway ruthlessly blitzed 14-man IT Sligo in foggy conditions at Tuam Stadium.
Sligo inter-county star Keelan Cawley was shown a straight red card for an incident with Fiachra Breathnach in the 25th minute.
At that stage only two points separated the sides, but Galway scored five points without reply to end the half 0-11 to 0-4 in front.
By the break Clancy had landed three superb points from play.
And when Breathnach and Cillian De Paor added two more in the opening minutes of the second-half, IT Sligo trailed by nine.
Six minutes from time, Clancy won possession before firing to the net to complete the rout.
