Boys international/Rep of Ireland - 1 Scotland - 0: A goal in the 66th minute from captain Declan Carroll ensured victory for the Republic of Ireland against Scotland in an FAIS senior boys international at Terryland Park last night.

Scotland started well and had chances early on.

Ireland's goal came when substitute Darren Forsyth sent in a cross which the Scottish defence attempted to clear but the inrushing Carroll was on hand to slot home from eight yards past goalkeeper James Barclay.

Victory provided the Irish with the perfect start to their defence of the Centenary Shield and sets up their next game against England who also won their opening game of the series.
