Carlow coach Pat Roe saw his team record their first competitive win under his charge with an impressive victory over Tipperary at Dr Cullen Park yesterday.

Despite missing a first-half penalty, Carlow led by a slender 1-5 to 0-7 at halftime. However, a 40th-minute goal from a penalty by midfielder Conor O'Dwyer put Tipperary 1-9 to 1-7 in front.

It was Carlow who responded to that goal and for the remaining 30 minutes they played some spell-binding football as they kicked 10 points to Tipperary's three.
