Two strikes from Wayside Celtic midfielder, Paul Byrne decided the Leinster Senior Cup final at Whitehall last night.
First Division outfit Athlone applied the early pressure and were rewarded for their efforts on 37 minutes when substitute, Michael Devine directed a low shot beyond Alan Sullivan.
But the game was transformed after the break and on the hour mark, Byrne struck with a spectacular overhead kick.
And he was then on hand to fire home the winner four minutes later after Athlone keeper, Anthony Keenan failed to collect a high ball under pressure.
