Co Carlow - 15 DLSP - 16 A 70th minute penalty strike by DLSP centre Simon Broughton ended Carlow's three-year unbeaten home record in this AIL tie at Oak Park on Saturday. Broughton's kick put DLSP into a 16-15 lead and they then survived strong late pressure..

DLSP led 10-8 at half-time, with Broughton converting an 11th minute try by Jason Critchley as well as landing a penalty in reply to an early Carlow try from prop Padraig Brennan and a Billy Murphy penalty.

Four minutes into the second half a searing run by Carlow's right wing Mark Buckley set up a superb try for left wing Ian Dwyer, which was converted by Murphy.

But Carlow could not build on that breakthrough and it was DLSP who recorded the game's final two scores - a penalty from Damian McCabe and Broughton's decisive contribution.
