News: The Toulouse and former Irish secondrow and flanker Trevor Brennan has been suspended by the French Rugby Federation until March 15th following a hearing in Paris on Saturday.
Brennan attended the morning meeting along with his legal representatives, following a request by the International Rugby Board (IRB) to the French Federation that he should be suspended.
Despite a European Rugby Cup (ERC) disciplinary hearing scheduled to take place today in Dublin, the French Federation complied with the IRB's request.
The IRB, in a letter written by Ireland's Syd Millar, said their request to have the player suspended before the ERC hearing was "in the interests of the game" and told the French Federation they did not "in any way wish to review or prejudice the evidence, the particular arguments and their merits, which may or may not be raised" at today's hearing.
Ulster fan Patrick Bamford is pursuing legal action in France against Brennan following an incident during Ulster's final Heineken European Cup pool game against Toulouse, where he claims he was assaulted by the player. The accountant is also taking libel action against several media outlets.
