UEFA Champions League - AC MILAN 2 BAYERN MUNICH 1: AC Milan advanced to the second phase of the Champions League at the San Siro last night with their fourth straight win in the opening phase.

Bayern Munich, the 2001 champions, are on the brink of a shock exit. Indeed, they would have exited last night only for Deportivo La Coruna's 3-1 defeat by Lens. Bayern have only one point after four games, while Deportivo in second place have six.

Milan's Filippo Inzaghi scored the second-half winner - his eighth goal in four European matches - after Bayern veteran Michael Tarnat had cancelled out Serginho's early opener.

Bayern suffered a major blow six minutes into the second half when they lost talismanic goalkeeper Oliver Kahn through injury. The German international captain was replaced by Stefan Wessels.
