Mount Sion regained the Waterford senior hurling championship in facile fashion against the holders and warm favourites, Ballygunner, before 8,000 spectators at Walsh Park yesterday.

Ballygunner were strangely lifeless and never threatened a fightback after t heir rivals took an early grip. By half-time it was 1-9 to 0-4, the goal coming from Tony Browne after 21 minutes.

Browne was outstanding, scoring 1-7. Ken McGrath also shone on his return from the ankle injury he suffered this summer.
