SONYA McGINN, on the biggest assignment of her career, has reason to view the draw for the women's singles badminton championship with mixed feelings.

McGinn was fortunate enough to get a bye in the second round, only to discover minutes later, that she must meet the naturalised Dutch woman, Mia Audina Tjiptawan (21) tomorrow for a place in the last 16.

Audina Tjiptawan, born in Indonesia but qualified to represent the Netherlands following her marriage to Tylio Lobman, is some five years younger than her opponent.

In terms of experience, however, she is significantly senior to McGinn after winning the silver medal in the 1996 Olympic championship at Atlanta. After a two-year break from international competition, Camilla Martin on her way to winning the Chinese championship in January.
