Kildare SFC final/Allenwood 0-11 St Laurences 0-7: Allenwood put in a convincing second-half performance to claim the Kildare senior football title for the first time.

With former county player Ken Doyle and current county star John Doyle in top form, they dominated for most of the game and led for much of the way.

St Laurence's had a short-lived advantage when JP Byrne pointed in the second minute but Ken Doyle levelled a couple of minutes later and John Doyle put them ahead with a free in the sixth minute.

Allenwood established a two-point lead in a closely-contested affair but they were hauled back to parity midway through the half. Allenwood surged clear again later in the half and they led by 0-6 to 0-4 at half-time with scores from John Doyle and David Burke.

St Laurence's started the second half against the strong breeze and they started a rally when Aaron Flood pointed with the first score after the restart.

But the destination of the cup was decided with the next three scores which fell to Allenwood.

St Laurence's, appearing in their third county final without success, fought back again and they closed the gap to two points with a free from county minor player Padraig O'Neill in the 52nd minute.

However, they were unable to score again despite the introduction of veteran Liam Miley before the end. A John Carroll point gave Allenwood a three-point advantage and John Doyle's final free made sure there was no way back for St. Laurence's.
