In 2025, the Dublin Horse Show celebrates a remarkable milestone – its 150th event – marking a century and a half of rich equestrian tradition, international prestige, and national pride. This iconic event, a firm fixture in Ireland’s cultural and sporting calendar, has grown from humble beginnings into one of the world’s most respected and exciting show jumping competitions. It also has one of the largest annual prize pools for international show jumping in the world.
For more than a century and a half, the Show has remained one of the best social occasions of the summer. There are bars and restaurants to enjoy, fashion and millinery to admire and a designated family area for fun for smaller visitors and their grown ups to enjoy.
More than 168 national and international equestrian competitions will take place during the 150th Show, including Friday’s Nations Cup for the Aga Khan Trophy.
John Dardis, president of the RDS, says, “This year’s RDS Dublin Horse Show is a very special one. It is the 150th Show in the series which began in the lawn of Leinster House. This week in our Ballsbridge showgrounds we maintain the RDS tradition of supporting and promoting Irish equestrianism. The Show is a national celebration of equine breeding and sporting excellence and a unique social occasion. Our hope is that all our visitors to the RDS will enjoy themselves and return home with enduring happy memories of special days spent with us. For many competitors reaching the RDS is the pinnacle of their sport. To see the best of our national and up-and- coming talent, make sure to visit the Simmonscourt Arena.
