An Coimisiún Toghcháin, Ireland’s independent electoral commission, has taken over the functions previously held by the Referendum Commission, meaning it is responsible for explaining to citizens the two referendums that will take place on March 8th.
And that is not an easy task when the proposed amendments concern concepts like defining the family, the State’s support for caregivers and the role of women in society.
